And it was the Londoners who made the brighter start, tearing into the Warriors right from the off.
And that concerted pressure had its reward after four minutes when Witt cut inside to round off a neat move.
Wigan were stung into action and levelled on ten minutes, Brett Finch bursting through a gap to touch down.
But, after Sam Tomkins then had a try chalked off, the Broncos went through the gears, grabbing another two tries before the half-hour mark.
Firstly a great break by Matt Cook saw the forward almost score himself, but when the ball was spread out wide Michael Robertson squeezed in at the corner for his fourth try of the campaign.
Even better was to follow when Dan Sarginson crossed for his second try in two games since returning from injury, jinking inside the Wigan defence to flash over the line.
The home fans were stunned, but Wigan then upped the tempo themselves, with three tries from Gareth Hock, Darrell Goulding and George Carmont turning the game on its head before the interval.
When Pat Richards then crossed shortly after the break things looked ominous for Rob Powell's men, but the Londoners were not going quietly and after Craig Gower engineered a gap, Chris Melling raced clear to reduce the deficit.
The game was proving really to and fro, and it was the hosts who struck next, Finch adding his second.
For London this was clearly proving their best away performance of the season, but some sloppy defending at a penalty allowed Tomkins to race 70 metres to score and seemingly secure the points.
The Broncos were showing great courage and still were not done though, Witt grabbing his second try when he intercepted a loose pass and cantered over from 30 metres.
Antonio Kaufusi then twice went close to barging over the line in the closing moments as the Broncos rally fell just short.
