London U16s at 1895 Cup Final

London Broncos Foundation U16s in great match vs Widnes at Halliwell-Jones Stadium in Warrington

The London Broncos Foundation U16s travelled to the Halliwell-Jones Stadium in Warrington to play against Widnes Vikings U16s ahead of the 1895 Cup Final.

Strong carries from Alex Yule from St Albans Centurions and Dexter Glover at Brentwood Eels set the platform, and the boys scored early on to give themselves and early lead. Elmbridge Eagles' Myles Fredericks made consistent high metres, while the skills of Logan Sothcott from North Herts, amongst others, made a big impression.

Widnes hit back, however, to make it 12-12 at half time, before moving into a 24-12 lead with only 10 minutes to go. London weren't done yet though, and hit back with the try of the match, with St Albans winger, Max Bradshaw, streaking in in the corner to reduce the arrears to only 8 points. However, Widnes sealed the victory with the last play of the game, taking advantage as the London defence bit in, to go over in the corner and make the score 30-16.

A fantastic experience for the London boys was further improved as they watched the London Broncos bring home the 1895 Cup and celebrated with the London Broncos players on the Halliwell-Jones pitch.

London Broncos are delighted to announce that Jimmy Meadows has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, keeping him at the Broncos until the end of the 2028 season. Meadows made his professional debut for London Broncos in 2018, playing in both the Super League and Championship, before departing the club and later returning ahead of the 2026 season. Since his return, Meadows has established himself as an integral member of the Broncos squad, making a significant impact both on and off the pitch. On the field, he has enjoyed an impressive 2026 campaign and currently leads the league for both points and goals, with 258 points and 115 goals. His performances have been matched by his influence within the group. Away from the field, he has played an important role in bringing the 2026 squad together, contributing to the strong culture that has developed within the team throughout the season. Born and raised in London, Meadows has a strong connection to the city and represents what the Broncos are striving to build. His journey from making his professional debut with the club to returning and becoming an important figure within the current squad reflects the club’s commitment to developing and retaining London talent. Speaking on his contract extension, Meadows said, “I’m delighted to be re-signing until 2028, I am extremely proud to represent London and my home club. Thanks to JD, Mike, Wardy, all the staff, and owners for their hard work and support. This is an amazing group and it’s exciting to think about what we will be able to achieve as we move forward on this journey. Finally, a big thank you to our fans who have been unbelievable in their support.” Head Coach Jason Demetriou added, “Jimmy has played a big role in the rebuild here at the London Broncos. His passion and commitment to his teammates, the club and our fans is evident every time he pulls on the London jersey. I'm excited about the potential Jimmy has to take his game to another level over the coming seasons. With his experience, versatility and leadership, Jimmy will continue to play an important role as we build for the future and grow rugby league across London.” ENDS For media enquiries, please contact: Christie Vasiliou Media Executive London Broncos Rugby League Christie.vasiliou@londonbroncosrl.com
