New look, new venue and tickets on sale soon for MAGIC WKND 2024

The waiting is nearly over, with tickets for the 2024 Magic Weekend going on sale this Sunday – and Super League fans can expect a first taste of the competition’s new look for a digital-driven future.


Super League’s 17th Magic Weekend will return to the height of summer, on August 17-18, at its sixth venue – Elland Road, home of Leeds United and the scene of so many great Rugby League moments.


It’s going to be a summer festival of Super League, with all 12 teams gathering for six Round 22 matches which are guaranteed to have a big impact as the countdown intensifies to the Play-Offs and the Grand Final.


And it will have a new digital expression, MAGIC WKND, reflecting how social engagement with supporters has become an integral part of this annual Super League carnival.


Tickets will be available from all 12 clubs, and centrally from RL Commercial, from midday on Sunday January 14, allowing fans to beat the January Blues and look ahead to the summer. Adult tickets start at just £30 for each action-packed day, while season ticket holders will receive a 50% discount when booking through their club.

And for fans without a season ticket or a club membership, there will be a 25% saving on all tickets purchased before February 5.


Plus, those organising group bookings for 10 or more people can save a massive 40% across all ticket categories when booking through groups@rlcommercial.co.uk


Complete ticket information will be available online from 12noon Sunday at superleague.co.uk/tickets.


Ahead of tickets going on sale, supporters can familiarise themselves with their club’s Elland Road end allocation at superleague.co.uk/tickets/magic-weekend. Those clubs with South Stand allocations will be designated specific areas to ensure that, where free-movement restrictions apply due to stadium structure, all their fans can sit together. Supporters of clubs with South Stand allocations are advised, in advance of purchasing tickets, to ensure that they select the correct area for their team from the following options: South Lower; South Upper; or South East Corner.


Plans are already advanced for a wide range of entertainment inside and outside the stadium, with a biggest and best ever Fan Zone in the Centenary Pavilion – one of the largest event spaces in the North.


And the mouthwatering line-up of fixtures is likely to mean huge demand for tickets with expectations of record crowds and a first-ever Magic Weekend sell-out.


Champions Wigan Warriors clash with local rivals St Helens on Saturday evening before Leeds Rhinos take on Warrington Wolves – and the Sunday action kicks off with another Lancashire derby between Salford Red Devils and Challenge Cup holders Leigh Leopards, before a showdown between two of the top four in 2023, as Catalans Dragons face Hull KR.


The Saturday action starts with a new fixture for Magic as Hull FC, always one of the best-supported clubs fuelled by memories of their stirring win against Warrington Wolves in 2023, face a London Broncos team who return to Magic for the first time since 2019 looking for their first win.


And the weekend will be rounded off by a West Yorkshire clash between two teams who will be looking for a repeat of their previous Elland Road result – Castleford Tigers with a league win against Leeds Rhinos in 2018, and Huddersfield Giants with a Challenge Cup semi-final win against Hull KR in 2022.

Broncos were unable to sign off the home campaign with a win over Bradford Bulls but put in a positive display leading at half-time and scoring 24 points against the promotion hopefuls. Widnes have enjoyed a revival in recent months and made a late charge for the play-off positions. Ultimately a defeat at Halifax last week meant they would fall short but would still be confident of finishing the season on a high in front of their own supporters. INTERVIEW: Ted Davidson's journey to London Broncos first-team Ted Davidson recently made his full first-team debut for London Broncos in the Championship game at Batley Bulldogs. The 23-year-old was a stand out performer despite perhaps being a surprise inclusion in the starting 13. The centre has been in and around the club for a number of years after being spotted playing Origin whilst at junior club Elmbridge Eagles in 2018.

MATCH REPORT: London Broncos vs Bradford Bulls

LONDON BRONCOS V BRADFORD BULLS (by David Ballheimer) London Broncos (12) 24, Bradford Bulls (10) 34 London Broncos ended their 2025 home season with a defeat against Bradford Bulls, blown away by 40 minutes of power, strength and not a little skill. The Bulls, easily the physically biggest team the Broncos have faced this season, were completely outplayed for the first 35 minutes, when London might reasonably have hoped for a three- or four-try lead. In the eighth minute, the Bulls made a handling error inside their 10 and their desperate defence went too far as they were penalised for a ball-strip two metres from their line. This time, the Broncos made Bradford pay, Luke Polselli taking a short Connor O’Beirne pass and running through a large hole in the defence. Jack Smith, as he would do after every try, added the extras. Polselli figured frequently in attack, unfortunately knocking on five metres away from a second score, but then delivering a superb grubber kick that he almost reached, but Jayden Okunbor touched down moments before the London No.6. It led to a goal-line dropout which the Bulls were able to defend. Quite how much Bradford were struggling was shown by head coach Brian Noble, who worked as a mentor with the Broncos player-head coach Andrew Henderson at The Hive in 2015, came down to pitch-side to deliver tactical and technical advice first-hand. In the 26th minute, London again applied pressure on the Bulls line and, from dummy half, Brandon Webster-Mansfield burrowed under the markers for London’s second score. A third Broncos score before half-time might have put the game beyond Bradford’s reach. Instead, the Bulls made a key substitution, sending on the veteran Chris Hill. The prop, a winner of 41 international caps for England and Great Britain and almost 400 games in Super League, made it a personal crusade to offload every time he carried the ball. The game’s turning point came with a 35th-minute penalty to Bradford just inside London’s half. A kick inside the 20 gave the Bulls all the territory they required, especially when they got a repeat set of tackles. After a couple of carry-ups, the ball was sent to the left where Guy Armitage, given his chance in rugby league by the Broncos, forced his way over.
