Women's Match Report: Manchester Swinton Lionesses

London Broncos 10 - 38 Manchester Swinton Lionesses
Broncos Women Fight Hard But Manchester Swinton Lionesses Prove Too Strong
London Broncos Women battled hard but were ultimately beaten 38-10 by the Swindon Lionesses in a physical and fast-paced encounter.
The Broncos started brightly, matching the Lionesses set for set in the opening exchanges. Early pressure nearly paid off through Emily Bell, whose strong carry in the fourth minute put London close to the line. The breakthrough came shortly after when Tasmin Barber finished off a sweeping move out wide for the opening try. The conversion attempt from Kathryn Salter drifted wide, leaving the Broncos 4-0 ahead.
The Lionesses responded quickly through Abbie-Marie Singleton, whose try levelled the scores at 4-4 after the conversion was missed. London continued to compete strongly, with solid defensive efforts including a try-saving tackle from Bell and determined goal-line defence that held the visitors up over the line early in the second half.
The Lionessess continued with momentum, scoring tries through Grace Arrowsmith, Emma Welsford and Morgan Pearson.
Despite periods of sustained pressure and several penalties in their favour, the Broncos struggled to turn territory into points. Errors at key moments allowed the Lionesses to gain momentum, and second-half tries from Tamika Bull and Leila D’Symonds helped the visitors pull away on the scoreboard.
London continued to fight throughout and were rewarded midway through the second half when Jessica Valentine crossed after a strong spell of attacking sets. Salter added the conversion to reduce the deficit to 20-10.
The Broncos kept pushing late on, earning repeat sets and penalties as they searched for more points, but handling errors proved costly. A late try in the corner from Kerrie-Rose Evans sealed the result for the visitors, with the final conversion attempt from Maddison Higson unsuccessful.
Although the result did not go their way, London showed resilience and determination throughout, with several strong individual performances and moments of promising attacking rugby.
