Broncos Deliver Dominant Away Performance

London Broncos Women produced an impressive display to secure a convincing 34-6 victory over Widnes Vikings Women, running in six tries and maintaining control for long periods of the contest.

The Broncos made a fast start and opened the scoring inside the first five minutes. After moving the ball effectively across the field, Hermione Titcombe crossed near the posts, with Kathryn Salter adding the conversion for a 6-0 lead.

The visitors continued to apply pressure and doubled their advantage after 10 minutes when Emily Bell finished in the left corner. Salter was again on target with the conversion to extend the lead to 12-0.

Widnes worked hard to stay in the contest, but the Broncos defence stood firm throughout the opening period. The visitors added a third try shortly before the break when Bell grabbed her second of the afternoon after a well-worked move to the left edge. Although the conversion was missed, London headed into half-time with a deserved 16-0 advantage

The Broncos picked up where they left off after the restart. Strong carries from Caitlin Keefe and Nicole Kennedy laid the platform for Becky Smart to score following a slick offload, with Salter converting to make it 22-0.

Just three minutes later, Kennedy got on the scoresheet herself, finishing off a move created by an excellent offload from Ffion Lewis. Salter added the extras again as the lead grew to 28-0.

Widnes managed to respond midway through the second half, scoring in the corner and converting to reduce the deficit to 28-6. Despite the setback, the Broncos quickly regained control and continued to dominate field position and possession.

The final score of the afternoon came with just over ten minutes remaining. Emily Hughes broke through the Widnes defensive line to score a superb try, and Ffion Lewis converted to complete the 34-6 victory.

The result capped an excellent team performance from London Broncos Women, with standout contributions across the squad. Emily Bell's first-half brace, scores from Titcombe, Smart, Kennedy and Hughes, along with accurate goal-kicking from Kathryn Salter and Ffion Lewis, ensured the Broncos returned home with a well-earned win.
