James Booth • 20 September 2024

The Broncos have their final game of the 2024 Super League season tomorrow as we face off against Warrington Wolves for the third time this season in the Super League & fourth time in all competitions. When we faced Warrington earlier in the season at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, the Wolves took the win in Round 5 and picked up another win on Round 21. Warrington were also the team which knocked us out of the Challenge Cup in Round 6 on their way to the final at Wembley. See below for the highlights of the Super League fixtures:

The Broncos have had some hard luck with their results this season as, especially in the second half of the season, we have been putting in some of our best performances but unfortunately, in the last few minutes of the game, the opposing team has the X factor ability to run away with the game. This Friday’s matchup is an excellent opportunity to change the current trend of the games by getting our 4th win of the season and keeping us off the bottom of the table to round off the year!

Warrington have had an excellent season, guaranteeing their place in this year’s playoffs as they are currently sat in 3rd place in the table. This Friday’s opportunity is a huge opportunity for Warrington to finish the regular season strongly in second place. Giving them a bye for the playoff eliminator round.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s fixture, Broncos Director of Rugby & Performance Mike Eccles says “It’s the end of this team’s cycle. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved over the two seasons. Lots of emotion but we certainly need to knuckle down and focus on the task at hand.

“We understand, yet again, the mighty challenge of Warrington. What will be will be, we will put our best foot forward as we have done all season, and we will go out on our shield.

“I am super proud of what we have achieved, the togetherness we have shown, the great fight & determination for the club has been absolutely remarkable so the result will be what it is but either way I am super proud”.

LONDON BRONCOS V BARROW RAIDERS (by David Ballheimer) London Broncos (8) 18, Barrow Raiders (10) 10 London Broncos ended their two-game losing streak with a vital come-from-behind victory over the Barrow Raiders on Sunday afternoon. It was a happy return to the Cherry Red Records Stadium for London whose last game at Plough Lane had been the comfortable victory over Widnes Vikings at the beginning of June. To be honest, with 35 minutes of the first half completed this result seemed unlikely. Barrow threw a forward pass on just the second tackle of the game, but the Broncos did not take advantage of the short field. Two more errors from the visitors gave further excellent scoring opportunities, but they were wasted with careless errors. The Raiders suffered a blow inside the first 10 minutes when Matt Costello picked up an injury from which he was unable to return, thus leaving Barrow with only three replacements. In the final 10 minutes, another player went down for the game with a leg injury, but most of the eight interchanges had already been made. It got worse for London in the 13th minute when a floated kick from Brad Walker was gathered by Andrew Bulman and he passed inside to Luke Creswell, who ran behind the posts to make Walker’s conversion automatic. London were struggling with Barrow’s astute kicking and, six minutes later, Walker aimed for the opposite corner, where Luke Broadbent outjumped his opposite number and was able to touch down in the corner. Walker’s conversion faded just to the right of the uprights, but the Raiders, with very little possession or territory, had a ten-point lead.
