Broncos Women Secure Dominant Win Over Salford RLFC
London Broncos Women produced a dominant display to defeat Salford RLFC 66–0, controlling the match from the opening minutes and maintaining pressure throughout.
The Broncos made a fast start, opening the scoring in the second minute when Emily Bell crossed for the first try of the afternoon. Kathryn Salter was unable to convert, but London quickly added to their lead a minute later when Tamsin Barber scored her first try, with Salter adding the extras.
London continued to apply pressure through strong carries and quick ball movement. Salford attempted to respond through possession and kicking sets, but handling errors prevented them from building momentum. Emily Bell dealt confidently with a high kick, while the Broncos’ defence forced further mistakes.
Barber added her second try in the 12th minute after Emily Hughes broke through the defensive line to create the opportunity. Two minutes later, Barber completed a quick hat-trick, running onto an offload from Rebecca Smart to score under pressure. Salter converted to extend the lead to 20–0.
The Broncos continued to dominate territory, and in the 18th minute Emily Hughes crossed after taking a short pass from Salter. Although the conversion was missed, London remained firmly in control.
Despite occasional handling errors from both teams, London’s defence continued to limit Salford’s opportunities. Katherine Wallis and Emily Bell combined for several strong defensive efforts, while Iona McCusker and Barber helped carry the Broncos forward through the middle.
Wallis added another try in the 32nd minute after receiving a pass from dummy half by McCusker, with Salter converting to make it 30–0. Shortly after the restart, Barber scored her fourth try of the game, again converted by Salter.
London maintained their momentum in the second half. Emily Bell scored her second try in the 51st minute following a sustained attacking set, before Sian McLaughlin crossed twice within eight minutes as the Broncos continued to capitalise on field position and repeat pressure.
Salford showed resilience and earned occasional opportunities through penalties, repeat sets, and possession in attacking territory, but London’s defence remained organised. Emily Bell also recovered possession after Salford lost the ball in a tackle, helping the Broncos return immediately to attack.
In the closing stages, Siobhan Crosley-Hughes added another try before Barber completed her fifth of the match in the 74th minute. Salter converted both scores to complete the scoring at 66–0.
Throughout the match, London controlled possession and territory, combining structured attacking sets with disciplined defence to secure the shutout victory.
