Record Breaking Year - London Broncos 2026 Betfred Championship Review
London Broncos cap record-breaking 2026 with historic Treble
London Broncos have capped a record-breaking 2026 season by completing a Championship
treble, while significant growth off the field has laid the foundations for the next chapter of the
club.
The Broncos defeated Doncaster 78–6 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Sunday to win the
Betfred Championship Grand Final, adding the Championship title to the League Leaders' Shield and
1895 Cup already secured during an extraordinary season.
The 72-point Grand Final victory was the biggest winning margin in Championship Grand Final history,
while the Broncos also became the first team in British rugby league to score more than 2,000 points
in a season, finishing with 2,043 across 34 matches.
Earlier in the campaign, London recorded another landmark result with a 134–0 victory over North
Wales Crusaders. The 134-point winning margin was a club record and the biggest winning margin
recorded in the top two tiers of professional rugby league since the sport's formation in 1895.
The season was bookended by crowds of more than 4,000, with more than 4,000 supporters attending
the opening home fixture against Widnes and the Grand Final at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
Marking a 47% uplift in crowd figures YOY.
The progress has extended well beyond the men's first team.
The Broncos Women won the National Championship before securing promotion to the Betfred
Women's Super League for the first time, marking another significant step in the club's ambition to
build a sustainable rugby league organisation in London.
The club has also invested further in its role within the community, appointing a dedicated
Community Welfare Officer midway through the season. Across the year, Broncos community activity
included 15 primary school sessions, 15 secondary school sessions and 31 after-school clubs, with
around 700 young people engaged through wider school and community activity delivered across 15
weeks.
Digital growth has also accelerated. The club's website generated 410,000 sessions over the 12-
month period, up from 89,000, an increase of 361%, while more than 250,000 additional new users
were recorded in the same 12-month period.
The Broncos have also seen significant growth in their audience and digital reach. The club has added
more than 100,000 social media followers across its channels during 2026, taking its combined social
following beyond 219,000, while generating more than 26.8 million social engagements.
The Broncos also secured a standalone broadcast agreement with NBC Papua New Guinea to
broadcast London Broncos Betfred Championship matches to audiences in Papua New Guinea,
extending the club's international reach beyond the traditional UK rugby league heartlands.
The combination of sporting success, growing crowds, digital engagement, international reach and
increased investment in community activity provides the platform for the club's next phase.
London Broncos owner Grant Wechsel said:
“It has been an extraordinary year for the Broncos, and everyone involved in the club should be
incredibly proud of what has been achieved on the field.
“Winning three trophies, setting records and seeing both our men's and women's teams achieve so
much is a reflection of the work that has gone into building the right environment around our teams.
“But for us, 2026 was never just about what happened on the field. We wanted to use the success of
our teams to build a stronger club around them. We have seen more people coming through the gates,
significant growth in our digital audience, new international opportunities and a much greater focus
on the role we can play in our community. That has all resulted in significant uplift in commercial
interest in the club, with stronger demand from existing and prospective partners and a growing
recognition of the value of the Broncos platform.
“There is a lot more to do, but we are starting to see what this club can become. The ambition is to
build a London Broncos organisation that is successful on the field and genuinely meaningful to its
supporters, partners and the wider London community.
“This season gives us a platform. Now we have to build on it.”
